CoaXPress is an asymmetric, high-speed serial communication digital standard. This standard allows devices (such as digital cameras) to connect to a host (such as a data acquisition device in a personal computer) via a single coaxial cable, transmitting data at speeds up to 6.25 Gbit/s. Because CoaXPress has the capability to transmit image and metadata across multiple channels, the device does not have to be a standalone camera; it can also be an interface device that connects data between digital cameras.
